Google has announced that game streaming service Stadia will soon debut on iOS. Apple has stated that it violates the terms of the App Store, so it will not arrive in the form of a dedicated iOS app but will be made available to iOS users in the form of a Progressive Web App (PWA) instead.
PWAs allow developers to provide an app-like experience through their website. By migrating Stadia to iOS using a web app, Google will be able to bypass Apple’s App Store rules.
Google hasn’t said when Stadia will be released on iOS, but has confirmed that public testing of the service will begin “in the coming weeks.”
In addition, Google also announced that customers who purchased CD Projekt’s Cyberpunk 2077 before December 18, 2020, will receive a free Stadia Premier Edition, including a Stadia controller and Chromecast Ultra for streaming Stadia on TV.
